Grindex Sandy – Sludge Pump

The Grindex Sandy sludge pump is an electrical submersible sludge pump engineered to handle tough dewatering operations involving water contaminated with solid particles. Available in both Normal Pressure (N) and High Pressure (H) versions, it delivers a rated motor power of 5.6 kW and runs at a shaft speed of 2890 r.p.m.

Built for harsh operating environments, the Grindex Sandy features a stainless steel outer casing and motor shaft combined with aluminium casted components and nitrile rubber O-rings for long-lasting structural integrity. Its hydraulic assembly utilizes a Hard-Iron™ impeller and an aluminium/polyurethane pump housing, which drastically minimizes wear when pumping highly abrasive liquids. Depending on your head and pressure requirements, the Normal Pressure (N) version handles solid particles up to 46 mm, while the High Pressure (H) version accepts solids up to 32 mm. Motor health is maintained via the integrated SMART system—featuring phase sequence control, a phase failure guard, and thermal contacts that trigger a shutdown at 140 Celsius. Additionally, an integrated air valve allows the unit to run dry without damaging internal mechanics, while a pre-assembled cartridge seal system (housing double mechanical seals in an oil compartment) ensures complete fluid isolation.

The Grindex Sandy sludge pump is ideal for demanding dewatering applications in mining, quarries, construction sites, and industrial sumps where water is heavily contaminated with abrasive solids, mud, and slurry.

Based on the same basic design as the drainage pumps, the sludge pumps come into action when the liquid gets dirtier than can be handled by the drainage pumps. The design even permits converting between drainage and sludge models allowing you to adapt the pump according to the varying conditions.
